Cuban Picadillo-Seasoned Turkey Meatballs with Savory Sofrito Sauce
While thinking of new Appetizers to make for this section, it's been extremely important to me to try and not make the same exact recipes that every other single food blogger and cookbook author out there, has already done to death. Rather than just making lower calorie and point STANDARD meatballs... you know the type... I wanted to try to present something unique. It also is a win-win for me, because it allows me to come up with another meat seasoning blend for my Meat Seasoning Download. In this case, I was able to make a WW-ified version of a traditional Cuban Picadillo Beef recipe.
These meatballs are extremely flavorful and very uniquely latin. They have the typical seasonings that you'd associate with mexican seasoned meat (cumin, garlic, cilantro, etc) but they you get hit with a kick of lime juice and cinnamonn. Not to mention the lower calorie version of traditional Sofrito sauce. A tomato sauce that's heavy on the bell peppers and onions, with paprika, cilantro and garlic.
This is appetizer #14 of 20, from my upcoming second cookbook and free download
